Travel Team Commitments
Tournaments
We are currently scheduled for one big tournament per month. We fully embrace multi-sport athletes, so we understand that also comes with commitments. We also understand that challenges arise. We only ask that athletes commit to us one weekend out of the month for tournament play.
Practices
Practices are twice a week. One practice is a closed team practice. This is important for learning the plays, rules of the game, and building chemistry with teammates. The second practice is training camp. Vital for developing the physical skills and abilities necessary for top level competition.
Travel
Players must be willing and able to travel. Most of our tournaments will be within a 3 hour drive. We may travel further for bigger tournaments. Teams who qualify will compete in nationals in Florida. We do our best to accommodate players in need of rides, lodging, or food.
Conduct
Every P-51 athlete is a representative of our program. Anyone affiliated with P-51 flag football is expected to conduct themselves with a positive attitude, exceedingly good sportsmanship, and outstanding character. We not only aim to build tremendous athletes, but world-class people. There is zero tolerance for unethical or detrimental behavior.
Effort
This is a partnership in which both parties make each other better! 100% effort and enthusiasm are expected at all times. We play every game from start to finish with maximum effort regardless of the score. Heart is the heart of this organization. Your job is to give your best. Your coach's job is to push you to your new best. Being part of a team is never about you. Getting better and giving your best is for your team!
Parent/Guardian Commitment
Support your athlete and hold them accountable to these standards. Your support at home will have greater impact than anything we can do for them. This is not rec league or "pay to play." In competitive sports playing time is earned. Encourage your player to have the right mental attitude. Encourage them to work hard and never give up. Teach them not to blame. What you blame you empower. Teach them to empower themselves by taking ownership of their own development. Above all encourage them to have fun!
